NICU Nurse Practitioner – Westerville (Columbus), OH
Employment: 1099 Locums
Start Date: November 2026 (posting lists 11/2/2026; additional details state October/November start)
Contract Length: 26 weeks (6 months)

Schedule
Full-time preferred
3 x 12-hour shifts/week
Will consider part-time (6–8 shifts/month)
Rotating 50% days / 50% nights
Primary shifts:
7:00 AM–7:30 PM
7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Occasional off-shifts for additional coverage:
11:00 AM–11:00 PM
3:00 PM–3:00 AM
No call
Practice Details
Level III NICU
High-delivery hospital
19-bed NICU
Average Daily Census: 13
Approximately 3,000 deliveries/year
Goal staffing:
Two NNPs per shift
May occasionally operate with single-provider coverage
Patient population:
Neonates and infants
EMR:Epic
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a Level III NICU
Manage critically ill newborns and infants
Independently perform neonatal procedures
Collaborate with neonatologists and multidisciplinary NICU team
Required Procedures
Intubation
Umbilical line placement
Thoracentesis
Arterial sticks
Lumbar punctures (preferred)
Chest tube placement (preferred, not required)
No PICC line placement (handled by PICC team)
Support Staff
Dedicated NICU Charge Nurse
NICU Respiratory Therapists
Dietitian
Occupational Therapy
Social Work
Case Manager/Discharge Coordinator (M–F)
Remote NICU pharmacy support
In-house neonatologist 7 AM–3 PM
On-call physician from home after 3 PM with backup physician available
Additional in-house night attendings at other Nationwide Children's facilities
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner only (PAs not accepted)
Board Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
Minimum 1 year of Neonatology APP experience
Active Ohio license required
Compact RN license accepted
Licensing assistance available
DEA required
Epic experience required
Credentialing
Approximately 90 days
Additional Information
COVID-19 vaccination not required
