Position Type: Locum Tenens or Locum-to-Permanent

Estimated Start Date: As soon as credentialed (60–90 days estimated timeline)

Schedule / Hours: 3 shifts per week (Clinics open 7 days/week, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; shifts are 12+ hours depending on patient flow; expected to treat all patients arriving during operational hours)

Weekend & Call Requirements: Weekend rotation included | No call coverage required

Target Rate Cap: Up to $150.00 / hour (All-inclusive local rate structure)

Position Overview & Clinical Scope

An urgent care provider network in the Richmond metro area is seeking three (3) full-time Locum Tenens Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA) for ongoing clinic coverage. Providers will manage 100% outpatient urgent care cases, treating patients of all ages (birth to death). Clinical duties encompass full-scope urgent care interventions, minor procedures, injury stabilization, and point-of-care diagnostic interpretation.

Core Responsibilities & Clinical Duties

Patient Volume & Acuity: Manage 25 to 50 patients per day (higher volume during cold and flu season). Stabilize and transfer high-acuity/emergent cases to higher levels of care (ED/ER).

Minor Procedures: Perform simple, intermediate, and complex suturing/stapling, incision and drainage (I&D with packing), foreign body removal, minor burn care, and skin lesion management.

Orthopedics & Trauma Stabilization: Perform splinting, casting, joint reductions, and epistaxis management (anterior nasal packing or silver nitrate cautery).

Diagnostics & Point-of-Care: Interpret X-rays, evaluation of EKGs, cerumen impaction removal, and point-of-care labs (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, blood glucose).

Respiratory & Airway Support: Administer nebulizer treatments and deliver initial emergency stabilization.

Documentation: Utilize Epic EMR for real-time patient charting.

Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements

Licensure & Certifications:

Board Status: Active Board Certification as NP or PA [REQUIRED].

State Licensure: Active Virginia State License [REQUIRED].

Federal & Life Support Credentials: Active DEA Registration and BLS Certification [REQUIRED].

Experience & Background Guidelines:

Clinical Experience: Minimum of 1 year of dedicated experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Department, or Primary Care setting [REQUIRED].

Background Requirement: Clean background with zero malpractice or licensure actions [REQUIRED].

Locality & Travel: Local candidates only or all-inclusive rate packages (client will not reimburse travel, lodging, or mileage expenses) [REQUIRED].
