# Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) – Urgent Care

### Locum Tenens / Locum-to-Perm

* **Patient Volume:** Approximately **25–50 patients/day**, varying by clinic and season
* **Patient Population:** Birth through adult
* **EMR:** Epic
* **Travel:** No travel reimbursement; local or inclusive-rate candidates only
* **Credentialing:** Approximately **60–90 days**


## 🏥 JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking **Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants** to provide urgent care coverage in an outpatient clinic setting.

Providers will deliver comprehensive urgent care services to patients across the lifespan, from pediatric through geriatric populations. Patient volume and acuity may vary by clinic and season, with increased volume expected during cold and flu season.

This is a **100% outpatient** opportunity with **no call responsibilities**.

## 📅 SCHEDULE & COVERAGE

* Clinics operate **7 days a week**
* Operating hours: **8:00 AM–8:00 PM**
* Providers will work approximately **3 days per week**
* Shifts are **12+ hours**, depending on patient flow
* Providers are expected to see patients who arrive during clinic operating hours
* **No call**
* Coverage begins as soon as credentialing is completed and continues until a permanent provider is hired
* Opportunity may transition from **locum to permanent**

## 👨‍⚕️ PATIENT POPULATION & VOLUME

* **100% outpatient**
* Patient population ranges from **birth to death**
* Approximately **25–50 patients per day**, depending on the clinic
* Patient volume may increase approaching cold and flu season
* Higher-acuity or serious cases requiring additional care will be stabilized as appropriate and referred/transferred to a higher level of care when necessary

## 🩺 REQUIRED CLINICAL SKILLS & PROCEDURES

Providers should be comfortable evaluating and treating a broad range of urgent care conditions and performing procedures including:

### Wound & Skin Care

* Simple, intermediate, and complex laceration repair
* Suturing and stapling
* Incision and drainage (I&D), including packing
* Foreign body removal
* Minor burn management
* Skin lesion care

### Orthopedic & Injury Care

* Injury stabilization
* Splinting and casting
* Joint reduction

### Diagnostic Services

* Diagnostic and point-of-care testing
* X-ray interpretation
* EKG evaluation
* Point-of-care laboratory interpretation, including:

* Rapid strep
* Influenza
* COVID-19
* RSV
* Urinalysis
* Blood glucose

### Additional Urgent Care Procedures

* Epistaxis management, including anterior nasal packing and chemical cautery
* Cerumen impaction removal
* Nebulizer treatments
* Initial emergency stabilization and airway support

## 📋 REQUIREMENTS

* **Board Certification – Required**
* **Active Virginia license – Required**
* **Active BLS – Required**
* **Active DEA – Required**
* Minimum **1 year of experience** in one or more of the following:

* Emergency Department/Emergency Room
* Primary Care
* Urgent Care
* Clean background
* No malpractice or professional license issues
* Providers must be able to work under an **inclusive compensation arrangement** if traveling; travel expenses are not reimbursed
